FRR Event: Women in Robotics

This event is in beginning stages of development. Much information is still to be determined. Please contact [email protected] if you have any suggestions or questions. Thank you!

Tentative September 2018, The Hague

For years, there have been discussions about why women are underrepresented in STEM fields and what we can do to increase those numbers. There are the WISE campaign, whose mission is to add 1 million women to the STEM workforce in the UK; the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) program, aiming to improve the promotion and retention of women and gender minorities within STEM; and Million Women Mentors, which looks to connect girls interested in STEM with successful women in the field.

To date there is no event in the field of robotics that pays tribute to the women who work in it. The Foundation for Responsible Robotics wants to host the first event dedicated to showcasing the achievements of women in robotics. ‘Celebrating Women in Robotics’ is an event designed to showcase, celebrate, and facilitate the achievements of women in the robotics field.  This two-day event will be an opportunity for women in robotics to come together to share their work, experiences, to network. We aim at creating opportunities to bring the field of robotics closer to gender equality.

The bulk of the event will be a public summit, in which all presenters are women who have contributed to the field of robotics. Speakers will be chosen by a group of female experts in robotics. The only limit for attendance will be available space; anyone who is interested in the topic will be encouraged to register.
